Entry: New Beginnings~ Thursday, December 25, 2003

"Often when you are at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else.  I've felt that many times.  My hope for all of us is that 'the miles we go before we sleep' will be filled with all the feelings that come from deep caring- delight, sadness, joy, wisdom- amd that in all endings of our life, we will be able to see the new beginnings."

.The World according to Mister Rogers; one of my Christmas presents today from my mom.  The above quote was on the first page I opened.  This was especially poignant to me as I am facing an ending.  One which I am trying, sometimes struggling to see as a new beginning not just merely the end of something.  Next week my children and I will be joining my husband at our new duty station in Quantico, VA.
I'm excited about the move and being reunited as a family after nearly an entire year apart.  It is particularly daunting to me, one who is quiet and has a very hard time making new friends. The idea of moving away to totally new place, away from everything I know can be somewhat paralyzing.
Today this page was another assurance that just because one thing is ending it doesn't have to be bad.  We are beginning a new life (again) as a family.  One where we will be together.  We will meet new people and make new friends and have new adventures.

New things are scary...just keep you're chin up and know that you are an amazing young women and anyone in VA would be retarded to not want to become you're bosom buddy. I truly believe this move will be the positive you have been waiting for. Things are going well and I think they will only get better. When times get tough, stick you're chin up, puff out youre chest and say to youself, I am Amy LaForte and there is no one in the world better than me. I love you and am only a phone call and a 7 hour drive away:)
